“Always Already Elsewhere” is Raha Farazmand’s solo exhibition, where she navigates the blurred line between control and freedom. The exhibition unfolds in two parts—Overflow, an oil painting series from 2024, and Capital Gardens, an oil painting series from 2023–2024—where boundaries dissolve, and excess becomes a tool for exploring the hidden mechanics of power.Overflow disrupts order, while Capital Gardens mirrors the garden as a psychological ground where the push and pull of forces become a prism to explore the raw and primal aspects of human interaction; both series focus on themes such as vulnerability, aggression, and intimacy.
Here, vulnerability marks a shift in power dynamics, where autonomy is negotiated within structures that seek to contain it. The exhibition also includes other works specifically made and adapted for this occasion.Raha Farazmand’s works explore space and change in their abstract and hybrid forms. They depart from a dichotomy between the inner and outer landscape and sway by factors such as memory, context, emotions, and societal constructs. Her process engages digital and analog tools and mediums, often taking the shape of paintings and drawings, evoking contradiction through the simultaneous presence of conflicting or seemingly incompatible situations.
